For a short time only

Like limited edition foods or the Boxing day sales, cherry blossoms don’t hang around for long. It’s quite cruel actually. After surviving a long winter Japan is rewarded with this incredible mass of flowers, some fluorescent pink, others white as a blanket of snow. But it’s been less than two weeks since they bloomed and they’re already disappearing. With the recent bad weather and lack of free time I’ve not had the chance to participate in “hanami”, the Japanese tradition of picnicking under the sakura (cherry blossom) trees. Luckily I managed to take a few photos of these beautiful flowers during a lunch break a few days ago. The chance that they will still be blossoming a week from now is very slim.

  3. They are so beautiful and yes it is a shame they can’t stay around longer with their blooms.

  4. The cherry blossoms are so beautiful, it is quite a shame that they only stay only briefly. Lovely photos!
