First Impressions: Madrid

While sifting through my photos of Madrid from last summer, wandering where to start, I noticed the majority of my photos are of buildings. The stunning architecture which can be found across the city completely took me by surprise. From the Plaza Mayor, built in the 16th century, to the Gran Via from the 20th century, the idea is the same – this city was made to impress!

Honestly, and please do not be angry, photographs of buildings are certainly interesting and can also convey a sense of how a city looks like. But really alive not affect such images. Is it not rather the images of the people who live in the city, we also look at later again and again. We do not remember back to a city as a place of movement, voice, music, honking cars …

  3. Have to get back there. My experience in Madrid consisted of a cab ride from the airport to the train station. Next time.
